Trauma therapy – A chance to heal and recover from trauma with Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP)

I offer therapy online, via Zoom. I speak fluent English and Swedish.

What can I help you with?

  • Getting resolve from a traumatic past  –  through the evidence-based treatment methods Internal family systems therapy (IFS) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
  • Recover and heal from psychological trauma, dysfunctional relationships, and trauma bonds
  • Recovering from narcissistic abuse and other toxic relationships
  • Ways to build meaningful and loving relationships and get out of abusive relationships
  • Couples coaching – practical ways to drastically improve communication in your intimate relationship
  • Increasing presence – learning to live in the present by resolving your traumatic past
  • Finally, if you’re just feeling low or dealing with overwhelming emotions and just need someone to talk to.

How can I help you?

As your trauma therapist, working with the evidence-based treatment methods of Sensorimotor psychotherapy and IFS I will guide you toward recovery and healing from a traumatic past. We take things at a slower pace when focusing on trauma and you will get to decide the pace that feels most comfortable to you. You will have my guidance and compassion throughout your journey of healing and recovery. My only focus is on how you can heal what you need to in order to be free from what you have been carrying.

  • Guided resources to learn how to tolerate your feelings and understand your body sensations
  • Help you notice what is going on in your body and mind and understand the connection between them (Sensorimotor Psychotherapy)
  • You will learn how to befriend your body which is the container of everything you have been through
  • Understand that all thoughts, feelings, and body sensations are in reality parts of yourself and hold a message (IFS therapy)
  • Break trauma-bonded relationships and understand why parts of you feel so attached to someone who is abusive
  • Realize that you have the answers and the wisdom required to heal and recover – I only guide you in a gentle way to find this wisdom
  • By developing compassion for parts of yourself – you will experience relief and feel compassion for all parts of yourself
  • Expressing what needs to be expressed can lead to realizations, “aha-moments” and breakthroughs required to heal and recover

I have tried many different therapies and worked with several clinicians over the past 12 years, but I don't know why IFS isn't more widely known about as an approach to healing trauma and better understand the Self. In a world where it is difficult just to get off a provider's waiting list, let alone find a good fit, I highly recommend Selma! From our initial session, I felt safe allowing her to access some very guarded parts of myself. She is warm, patient, and naturally curious, opening me up to some of the deepest and most insightful perspectives on myself.

Selma is an extremely knowledgeable IFS coach/therapist. I did 2 sessions with her and learned enough from her approach to support myself for awhile (my budget is limited, I recommend sticking with her.) I'm a trauma savvy person who has done a lot of SE and other therapy. In my professional life, I've had to find "rockstars" of their profession and Selma is definitely a rockstar of the IFS world. I highly recommend her!

Selma helped me discover unresolved emotions from trauma I thought I had dealt with years ago. Turns out I was just really good at hiding those memories. She is so encouraging and genuinely interested in your experience. You can truly tell that her knowledge in IFS is that of an expert. I would recommend this therapy to anyone and I am so grateful for all it has done for me so far!

My healing journey with Selma started when I went through a painful marriage betrayal. The pain triggered early childhood attachment issues which I never though I had! Acknowledging the pain and exploring the reasons behind it as helped me with the healing process by making me less vulnerable to what triggers my early abandonment issues. Selma helped with strategies to cope with the trauma with EMDR and acknowledging the wounded lost child within. I am taking my power back and moving forward with hope. Thank you Selma for your encouragement and wisdom.

It was revealing in a great way to do treatment with Selma through EMDR Therapy. Her guidance in each session led me to release traumas that I didn't even knew I had and were hindering many aspects of my life. Her empathy, professionalism and clear passion for her work made me comfortable enough to open up completely, which brought even more rich results. I'm so grateful!

Selma introduced to me IFS and I had never heard of this before. I was definitely interested and willing to start IFS with her and I am so glad I did. It literally changed my life- I am cutting out toxic people from my life the moment they show signs of it, I'm prioritizing my health over other things, and most importantly, my parts are being heard. They are brought to the light and unburdened with the help of Selma. I cannot recommend IFS with Selma enough, it is truly a majestic experience and I hope more people try it out!

I can’t even begin to describe how amazing Selma is. She is compassionate, kind, approachable and determined. Hands down, she is the most capable and respectful therapist out there, who is willing to stop at nothing to help you find your peace.

Selma helped me so much! I was really struggling following narcissistic abuse in a long term relationship. Selma helped me get in touch with my wounded adult and my wounded child and helped me heal long term hurt. I am much calmer and more grounded and I can finally see my future as bright and hopeful. The anxiety I developed after my relationship ended is under control and I feel more peaceful. Things began to change quickly in a positive direction once I was able to heal and integrate some of my wounded parts. I owe that to the work Selma did with me.

Why choose me as your therapist?

I’ve been working as a trauma therapist for many years focusing on PTSD and C-ptsd. I’ve completed Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems Therapy at the IFS Institute and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Level 1 at the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. I’ve helped people to live more at ease with their bodies with a sense of resolve from their past. I hold a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Psychology and I’ve been (and continue to be) a student in the field of trauma therapy such as IFS, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, and Ego-state therapy for nearly two decades. The field of trauma research and healing from trauma is the biggest part of my life and my mission is to heal and recover as many people as I possibly can in my lifetime.

Other than my passion for this subject I have also undergone therapies such as EMDR, IFS, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy personally to experience the healing possible with these treatments. This is one of the reasons I became an IFS and SP therapist. I believe that in order to heal others we must first begin by healing ourselves. I have created major transformations in all areas of my life and am still and will always find ways to become a more skilled therapist.

Undergoing continuous supervision from IFS practitioners, as well as undergoing IFS therapy and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with an IFS (Level 3) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy practitioner (Level 3) helps me to continuously grow as a therapist, heal my own childhood wounds and help my client’s recovery process.

In summary,

    • I work with evidence-based treatments for healing trauma using mainly IFS and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
    • I hold a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Psychology and I’ve been a student in the field of trauma therapy for nearly two decades
    • Completed Internal Family Systems Therapy Level 1 training from the IFS institute
    • Completed Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Level 1 training from the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute
    • I’ve been to “bad” therapists and psychologists and know how frustrating it feels to not feel safe and not get any results in therapy
    • The great researchers whose work I not only admire, but also learn from, and continuously apply in my practice include Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk, Dr. Peter Levine, Dr. Richard C Schwartz, Dr. Janina Fisher, Dr. Pat Ogden, Dr. Stephen Porges, and the late Dr. Late Francine Shapiro. Their contributions and research have, and continue to revolutionize the field of trauma treatment
    • Although the healing process is different for everyone due to individual circumstances, many clients find it possible to regulate and soothe their emotions and body sensations within three months of working with me due to the focus on building inner resources that may have been lacking in early childhood
    • My education, personal experience with EMDR, SP, and IFS therapy, ongoing supervision, and passion for trauma therapy have made me a compassionate and skilled therapist
    • I will do everything I can to help you feel safe and comfortable talking to me
    • I have hit rock bottom in my life and gotten out of that
    • I’ve worked with many different people around the world and helped them recover from various kinds of psychological traumas
    • I have a unique perspective of having grown up in an honors culture (strictly religious upbringing) household while living in a Western society
